Ann Nost


Ann Nost (she/her) obtained her MSW from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, focusing in Clinical Health. She obtained her MPH from John’s Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health focusing on Health Policy. She has also obtained a certificate in Thanatology (the study of death, dying, and grief) from the University of Maryland. Following graduation, she worked as a social worker in the NICU at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. In 2016, Ann moved to Richmond and worked as a social worker in hospice, realizing her passion was Women’s Health she transitioned back to the hospital setting in 2017. Her passions are working with families during the delicate transition to parenthood and helping families process grief across the lifespan.

Specialties

Ann specializes in working with families during the perinatal period, including individuals experiencing pregnancy complications, high risk pregnancy, perinatal and infant loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She also has experience in working with individuals who have experienced infertility, miscarriage, and termination for medical reasons. Ann has worked extensively with families who have a baby in the NICU and has helped during that adjustment period.  She understands the delicate intricacies of working with families throughout their childbearing years and the many challenges that come along with it.  Ann also specializes in grief across the lifespan.  Ann is LGBTQA+ affirming.

Modalities

Ann utilizes a variety of methods and understands that each client has a unique need, using an integrative model she focuses on client goals for treatment with a strengths-based approach.  Ann utilizes modalities from Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR and Mindfulness.

More about Ann

Ann and her family moved back to Virginia in 2017, and enjoy all that Richmond has to offer from dining out to going to Squirrels games. In her spare time, Ann enjoys being with her family outdoors hiking, running, and spending time on the water.
