Bridget McGlade


Bridget McGlade (she/her) is a compassionate outpatient therapist who has experience in providing counseling and support to children, adolescents, adults and families struggling with mental health issues. Prior to her current position at Healing Circle Counseling, Bridget worked as an Intensive In-Home Counselor. In this role, she provided intensive in-home counseling to children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses at risk for hospitalization, incarceration, or foster care placement. Bridget was able to implement programs benefiting clients and enhancing their social skills, self-esteem and was able to utilize family therapy and expressive arts to promote healthy change.

Through Bridget’s work, she hopes to help individuals gain insight into their thoughts and behaviors, identify patterns that may be holding them back, and develop skills and strategies that can help them overcome their challenges. Bridget strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their feelings and work towards their goals. She recognizes that each person is unique, and she tailors her therapeutic approach to meet the specific needs and goals of each client. Bridget knows that therapy can be a challenging, vulnerable experience and has a knack for helping clients feel safe to be their authentic selves.

Specialties

Bridget’s area of expertise include working with the LGBTQIA+ community, adolescents, clients with depression, bipolar, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder as well as borderline personality disorder. Bridget has previous experience and knowledge working with clients struggling with high risk behaviors such as self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

Treatment modalities

Bridget utilizes evidence-based practices, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Strengths-based perspective and Trauma-Informed Care, to provide effective treatment.

Bridget is the creative dynamo who enjoys all things artistic! She loves writing and performing poetry, playing her ukulele, photography and creating mixed media art. On the weekends, you might find Bridget supporting local musicians and getting out to explore all the different parts of Richmond. Additionally, Bridget loves to pet sit in her down time (especially with cute dogs!)
