Dorothy “Dot” Parker


Dorothy “Dot” Parker (she/her) is a certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over 11 years of experience in mental health. Her experience includes inpatient, outpatient, and community health and has given her extensive knowledge about caring for individuals with both chronic and acute mental illness. She received her BSN from Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing and MSN from the University of Virginia. She has training in anger management and healthy relationships through community health internships with Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing.

Dorothy is particularly passionate about client advocacy and providing holistic care that considers all aspects of health to achieve overall well-being. She believes care should be personalized to meet the unique needs and experiences of individuals. She is a supporter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and enjoys participating in their yearly fundraising walks.

Specialties

Dorothy provides care to clients 16+ with both chronic and acute mental illness. Her areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, suicide prevention, trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorders, psychosis, sleep disorders, substance dependence, and borderline personality disorder.  She provides medication management as well as brief psychosocial therapy. Dorothy is LGBTQIA+ affirming.
