Michelle Jackson


Dr. Michelle Jackson (she/her) is a Doctor of Social Work (DSW). She obtained her DSW from Capella University in 2019. Dr. Jackson has dedicated the past 10 years to serving adult men in the criminal justice system. Additionally, she has experience with serving substance-addicted adults, as well as adults and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence. Michelle truly believes in putting an end to the creation of victims (e.g. victims of circumstance, illness and/or violence). She also believes in the right to self-determination and encourages those she serves to follow their heartbeat; with the understanding that every action has an outcome, may it be positive or negative. Dr. Jacksonprides herself in utilizing a realistic approach when meeting with her clients.  She believes in showing up each day as her authentic self while helping others heal through their experiences.

Specialties

Michelle enjoys helping people navigate various life stages. Her specialty includes working with adults impacted by anxiety, depression, and other mood and personality disorders. She finds her passions lie in helping those who have faced varying traumas to include natural disasters, adults affected by childhood trauma, sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse, or being the witness of traumatic events. Other expertise are in communication and problem solving skills.

Treatment Modalities

Michelle uses a person-centered treatment modality, with particular attention to what is best for the person being served. She is primarily a strengths-based, empowerment model practitioner, garnering assistance from other modalities and techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.

In her spare time, Michelle enjoys reading spiritual and metaphysical literature in her spare time, researching alternate methods of healing as well as finding natural remedies of self-healing. She is a true researcher at heart, finding new ways to advance the field of social work practice. More than anything, she loves finding peace outdoors with her family.
